Luxury Accommodation in Pitlochry, Perthshire

Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire

Pitlochry is popular for its location in the very centre of Scotland.

Renowned for centuries for stunning landscapes, and the finest fresh air, over the last 50 years it has become a cultural and outdoor sporting centre for Scotland.

Pitlochry is famous for its Dam and Fish Ladder.  In 2017 a state of the art viewing platform was opened and it is expected that in excess of 80,000 people will visit in its first year of opening.  The visitor centre seems to levitate over the River Tummel and has a tremendous view down the valley.  The exhibition goes into great detail about the history of the Perthshire and Pitlochry area and the suitability for creating electricity from hydro energy.  The dam was built by a team of hardworking guys affectionately known as the Tunnel Tigers.  The building of the dam took into account preserving the flow of salmon up the river for spawning and you can see the ladder that these magnificent creatures climb on their way upstream.  The visitor centre is well worth a visit and of course a stop for coffee and cake or a light lunch.

The world-renowned Pitlochry Festival Theatre is located just along the river from the dam - in fact, you can see it from the viewing platform.  Open year-round, the theatre presents a wide range of plays, musical concerts and performances for all ages.  There is a great cafe and also a restaurant that looks over the river - fabulous for people watching.

Anyone who's been to Perthshire and particularly Pitlochry will know what a stunning landscape there is all around.  There are beautiful walks - from short river and woodland strolls to more adventurous mountain hikes and even several Munros nearby.

Water activities are also popular in the area and you can take part in many different sports - from the exhilarating canyoning and white water rafting, windsurfing, trendy SUP stand up paddleboarding,  to fun and giddy sphering.  See our local companies and for further details.

Pitlochry is home to 2 Distilleries - the smallest in the world - Edradour Distillery is located just outside Pitlochry and a lovely 1-mile stroll from Kinnaird House and the other is down in Pitlochry - the famous Bell's Distillery.  Enjoy a tour at either and indulge in a wee taste of the golden liquid!

Pitlochry Queen's View is one of the most famous views in Scotland and is a short drive from Kinnaird.  Going here is a must.  The view looks out over Loch Tummel towards Loch Rannoch and Shiehallion with Glen Coe in the far distance.  Simply stunning!

Whatever you come to Pitlochry for you are sure to have a great time and create fantastic memories that will make you want to come back for more.
